Barbara came into the world with a bang on the Fourth of July 1947.  She went to eternal peace as lightning flashed and thunder rumbled on the 30th of December 2015.  At her side as she slipped away were her loving husband of almost 48 years, Carl ; her son Scot and daughter-in-law  Stephanie.  They held her hands and gently stroked her arms as her suffering ceased.
Barbara was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Glenn and Geraldine Spinks Mason.  She grew up and matriculated through school in Wintersville, Ohio.  She met, fell in love with, and married Carl.  They settled in California where they raised three sons, David Carl (wife Leticia Vann) of Clovis, Ca; Scot (wife Stephanie Jameson) of Blythewood; and Carl Jr. (Wife Kendra Stein) of El Cajon, Ca.  After retirement Barbara and Carl chose South Carolina as the place to live out the remainder of their days.

Barbara was many things; a wife, a mother, a daughter, an aunt, a friend  to countless people.  She was also a seamstress, a golfer, and a bowler, but probably her favorite title of all was      Grandma.  She was looking to the future when she would become a Great Grandma.  For those of us who new her boundless love for all her grandchildren I say:"Babs, you already made it".

Barbara was predeceased by her father and a granddaughter Jameson.  She leaves behind in addition to husband Carl, sons , daughter-in-laws and seven grand children; Jessica, Alyssa, Lucy,  Phoebe,  Cayne, Cameron, and Jackson.

Barbara retired in 2014 after working 10 years for her dear friend Marilyn Fitch Wilson in Marilyn's State Farm Agency.  She enjoyed her second career after having spent twenty years as a day care provider in California.    Barbara and husband Carl were members of Columbia Country Club where she enjoyed golfing and playing cards with friends.

Barbara had a perpetual smile that warmed any room she entered.  She made friends easily and liked nothing better than helping those in need.  Barbara will be sorely missed by those who new and loved her. The world will be a less happy place without her, but Heaven has surely gained another angel.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation or Wounded Warrior Foundation.  Both organizations are among Barbara's favorite charities.
