Anna Catherine Canady Sommerfeldt, 36, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015 after a car accident in Key West, Florida. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on November 10, 1978, to Horace and Helen Tuttle Canady (Macy and Bubba). She grew up in Columbia, South Carolina, graduated from Spring Valley High School, and later received a degree in Sociology from The University of North Carolina at Asheville. A resident of Key West since 2005, she was employed as office manager at Eagle Brands Key West. She was married to Daniel Jacob Sommerfeldt on April 6, 2013. In her leisure time she enjoyed boating and fishing with Daniel near their home, as well as running, diving, swimming and spending time with family and friends.
Catherine is survived by her husband, of Key West; parents and brother, James Bowman Canady, of Columbia; along with aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Horace and Roberta Masters Canady, and James Mason and Frances Pulford Tuttle. Catherine will be remembered for her playful spirit, individuality, genuineness, love for others and her tender heart.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2pm, with a visitation beginning at 1pm, at Northeast Presbyterian Church, 601 Polo Road, Columbia, SC 29223. A service will also be held in Key West at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Northeast Presbyterian Church; Kendall United Methodist Church, 7600 S.W. 104th Street, Miami, FL 33156; or The Turtle Hospital, 2396 Overseas Hwy, Marathon, FL 33050.
