Dennis Baptista

Dennis Baptista 72 of Elgin passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Magnolia Manor. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn.  Mr. Baptista was a Bridgeport, Conn. resident most of his life. He moved to Elgin, South Carolina on May 31, 2009. Mr.  Baptista retired from the US Army  a staff sergeant with a total of 23 years of service and also was a retired construction worker. He was a member of the VFW post 145 in Bridgeport, Conn., the Polish American Citizens Club, VFW post 11079 in Elgin and the American Legion.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Melissa Ann Baptista of Carozel,  Puerto Rico and Melody Rose Baptista of Buffalo New York; two stepdaughters, Tabatha Martin of Stratford, Conn. and Rokisha Martin of Bridgeport, Conn.  brothers, Ferdinand (Betty) Baptista, Gilbert Baptista, John Baptista Jr. and Manuel (Chongsun Lee) Baptista; three sisters, Johanna Angelo, Debra Craddock and Caroline Ramalho; many grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends Friday, March 16, 2018 at Kornegay & Moseley from 9am to 12 noon. A funeral service will follow at 12 noon in the chapel. Burial will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery with full military honors.
